Welcome October

Crisp mornings, golden leaves, and the excitement of autumn festivities – October in Dorset is a month full of colour, charm, and seasonal celebrations. From pumpkin picking and artisan markets to cozy pub meals and woodland walks, this is the perfect time to gather loved ones and embrace the slower pace of autumn.

One of the true joys of this season is the charm of autumn walks by the beach – the sound of waves crashing against the shore, the salty breeze, and the crunch of leaves underfoot. Afterwards, return to your retreat to warm up with a hot drink and snuggle beneath a soft blanket.

At Pebble and Pine Escapes, we’ve been preparing for the colder months with extra blankets for ultimate coziness and heated floors that make coming back from a bracing seaside stroll or countryside adventure wonderfully comforting.

While September has been a fully booked month, there’s still time to plan your October escape to Dorset. With fewer crowds, vibrant seasonal activities, and plenty of space to relax, it’s one of the best times of year to experience the area.

WONDER THROUGH POOLE

Visit Cerne Abbas and the Cerne Giant

Step back in time with a visit to the charming village of Cerne Abbas, home to the mysterious Cerne Giant – a 180ft chalk figure carved into the hillside. Whether he’s a Pagan fertility symbol, the Roman god Hercules, or something else entirely, the Giant is one of Dorset’s most iconic landmarks. With beautiful village streets and National Trust countryside to explore, it’s a must for history lovers and families alike.
